Volunteer Opportunity – Share Shed Assistants

The Township of Jocelyn is seeking two (2) volunteers to assist with the operations of our Share Shed located at the Jocelyn Landfill.

The Share Shed is an important part of our community. It helps keep reusable items out of the landfill by giving them a second life, ultimately extending the lifespan of our landfill site. It also provides residents with a convenient place to donate items during clean-ups or find something they may need. With books, games, toys, kitchenware, furniture, and home décor, there is truly something for everyone. All monetary donations go to the St. Joseph Island Food Bank.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

• Accept and sort incoming donations
• Clean and organize items for display
• Ensure the Share Shed remains tidy and welcoming
• Remove and properly dispose of broken or unusable items
• Maintain a safe and organized space

Schedule:

• Wednesdays and Sundays (regular commitment preferred)

Training:

• Volunteers will be required to complete training provided by the Township, including AODA and WHMIS. Orientation will be provided by the Clerk and Landfill Attendant.

Reporting Structure:

• Volunteers will report to the Landfill Attendants on site, as well as to the Clerk.

Applicants may submit a resume or a letter of interest to the Township by : Thursday April 2, 2026 at 4:00pm.

• In person: Drop off at the Township Office at 3670 5^th Side Road, Hilton Beach.

Applications will be reviewed by the HR Committee, and applicants will be contacted by the Clerk.

If the number of applications exceeds the available positions, the HR Committee will conduct interviews and make a recommendation on the candidates they feel are best suited for the role.
